Tea Cup Heaven

A dear friend recently gifted me with her mother's tea cup collection.  My friend has a small house and didn't have a place to display or store the cups and knew how much I enjoy my teacups.

The first tea cup is a Lily of the Valley.  This makes my 10th Lily of the Valley tea cup, all with slightly different patterns.

What makes this one so unique is the tannish color on the outside of the cup.

As you can see my Lily of the Valley collection goes way beyond just the teacups.

The second tea cup for this post is a Snowdrop Teacup.

One of the bloggers I follow featured this cup a couple weeks ago which made unwrapping this cup a special treat.

My dilemma here is what teapot to use.  Do I go with white?

Or my favorite everyday green teapot.  I found this in a second hand shop a couple years ago and use it almost every day.

I'm going to have to do some research on Royal Albert's Flower of the month series as I love scouring antique shops for a specific style or flower on a tea cup.

Both teacups, Snowdrops and Lily of the Valley remind me that spring can't be too far off although I've yet to receive a seed catalog in the mail!

I'm will be joining Sandi for Teacup Tuesday at

  1. Hi Gail,
I just love your Royal Albert Snow Drop teacup. Yours is definitely more vintage! I love the shape and colours. It does look perfect with your green teapot. I am so pleased to meet you Gail. Thank you for sharing your beautiful Flower of the Month Teacup. Your Lily of the Valley teacups are stunning too! I hope you link up to the tea parties this week at Rose Chintz Cottage, Bernideen's and Martha's. Happy Tea Times! Karen

    1. Hi Karen
I have followed yours and the other tea blogs you mentioned for quite some time now but always as an observer and never a participant. It was your snowdrop post that finally gave me that extra boost to join in. Thank you for the encouragement.

    1. Beth,
Loved you snow pictures. The view is similar from my window today. I got my first electric tea kettle a couple years ago and love it. One of those things you don't know how you got along without before. Thank you for visiting me for Teatime Tuesday. Gail

  3. How wonderful to have been remembered by your friend in such a generous way. I have a couple of lily of the valley tea cups but have never seen these! And other things add up to a great collection.

  4. What a thoughtful friend you have, Gail! Both teacups are lovely. I don't have either lily-of-the-valley or snowdrops and I wish I did as they are my and my hubby's birthday flowers. I especially love the Royal Albert as I love the shape of it. I am happy to have you join me for tea today and I hope you come again very soon. Enjoy your day.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

    1. Sandi,
I have followed you blog you quite some time and so enjoy your Tuesday Teatime and visiting all the different blogs. Until now I have always been an observer and not a participant. When I unwrapped these cups and saw the snowdrop cup I immediately thought of the post Karen had posted a couple weeks ago and decided it was time to share. Thanks so much for hosting this blog every week. I always look forward to each weeks new post and the enjoyment it brings. Gail

    1. Sandi,
I do love my garden and hosting summer tea parties there. I started my blog as a way to share pictures from those parties with the daughters of my tea ladies. I am enjoying all the responses I've gotten after linking to your post. I'm hoping this will inspire me to be more active although there is still much I have to figure out on blogging. Gail

  6. What a sweet friend to gift you with those lovely teacups! I can see why you were in teacup heaven. I think I like your everyday green teapot with the one teacup, for picking up the green in the teacup.
